Varied Activities Programme

Activities are such an important part of life at Dale Park Care Home and our Wellbeing Coordinators organise a varied programme throughout the year. Giving residents opportunities to enjoy their interests, spend time with others and try something different. We provide both residential and nursing dementia care, so our activities are planned with an understanding that every resident has different abilities, support needs and ways of communicating. Whether someone loves being part of a group or prefers a quieter activity with a member of our team, we want them to feel included and have something to look forward to.

Activities That Bring Enjoyment

The best activities are often those that connect with something a person already loves. Our team takes time to learn about residents’ previous hobbies, working lives, family memories and personal interests, using this knowledge to plan experiences that feel familiar and enjoyable.

Residents can get involved in arts and crafts, baking, painting, music sessions, dancing, quizzes and gentle exercise. Gardening and flower arranging can also offer a lovely way to enjoy a hands-on activity, while music and familiar songs may encourage residents to join in, tap their feet or simply enjoy listening.

Dementia Friendly Activities That Make A Difference

Our approach takes account of how dementia can affect memory, communication and concentration. Familiar music, sensory experiences, reminiscence and simple creative activities can offer valuable opportunities for engagement without putting residents under pressure. Our sensory room also provides another way to explore calming experiences and enjoy stimulation in a quieter setting.

For residents receiving dementia nursing care, activities are considered alongside their individual health and mobility needs. Our team adapts the level of support so residents can participate as comfortably as possible, including those who may find group activities challenging.
